<p>Professional Healthcare practitioners in Qatar can renew their license online, three months before the license expires. All you need to do is <a href="https://dhpportal.moph.gov.qa/en/_layouts/15/LogIn.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fen%2f_layouts%2fAuthenticate.aspx%3fSource=%2Fen%2FPages%2Fdefault%2Easpx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">log in</a> to the <a href="https://www.moph.gov.qa/english/Pages/default.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">State of Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health’s</a> online portal using the credentials you registered with when you first got your license from Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP), complete and submit the renewal form with all required documents, pay the fees (if applicable) and wait for the Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP) to approve and renew license.</p>
<h6><em>Per </em><a href="https://dhp.moph.gov.qa/en/Pages/AllCirculars.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><em>Circular no. 01-2021</em></a><em>, expired or due for renewal, medical licenses have extended automatic validity for 12 months (from the date of the circular till 31st December 2021).</em></h6>

<h2>The Department of Healthcare Professions</h2>
<p>The <a href="https://dhp.moph.gov.qa/en/Pages/AboutUs.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP)</a> is now known as the Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP) after Emiri decree no. 14 was published in February 2019. Prior to that, QCHP was known as the Medical Licensing Department under the Ministry of Public Health. The DHP oversees Qatar’s registration and licensing of healthcare practitioners, evaluates medical workers’ fitness to practice, and regulates healthcare practice and medical education. </p>

<h2>Training Requirements</h2>
<p>To renew your license, you need to fulfill the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements of a minimum of <strong>40 CPD credits per year</strong> or a minimum of 80 CPD credits for the two-year license renewal cycle. Please refer to the <a href="https://dhp.moph.gov.qa/en/Pages/AllCirculars.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">QCHP Circulars</a> for more information on the CPD requirements for your specific profession. Another requirement is your <strong>Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training certificate</strong> for practitioners who are employed in institutions where there is no ‘Code Blue Team’. For more information, please refer to <a href="https://dhp.moph.gov.qa/en/Pages/AllCirculars.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Circular nos. ‘03-2019’ and ‘03-2017</a>’.</p>
