<p>Your salary might sound astronomical at first glance. What won’t be covered by your benefits? Some companies shoulder all the living expenses like housing, transportation, electricity, water, and even internet/phone bills. If these are not covered, do your research first if your take-home pay is enough to cover these plus your desired savings and remittances.</p>
<h2>What are your contingency plans?</h2>
<p>There are some countries that require an <a href="https://www.investopedia.com/terms/e/exit-visa.asp" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">exit visa</a> and you should check out your destination to see if this applies to you. Picture what you need to do should an <a href="https://blog.trueprofile.io/emergency-preparedness-overseas-workers/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">emergency</a> arise. Get the numbers of your embassy, your company representative, and even your manpower agency’s representative. Discuss with your family what to do in cases where either party can’t get a hold of the other. Make sure to set aside and save for a contingency fund.</p>
<h2>Check your documents</h2>
<p>Is your passport still in order? What are the documents that you need in order to secure a working visa for your destination? If you are issued a tourist or a visit visa only, chances are that you might become a victim of human trafficking or an illegal recruiter. There are also some unscrupulous individuals who would give you <a href="https://newsinfo.inquirer.net/1141640/public-warned-vs-fake-airline-tickets-planes-passes" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">fake boarding passes</a> and then disappear with your hard-earned money. <p>Do your research on your country of destination. I remember my cousin went to Shanghai in the middle of winter with just basketball jerseys in his luggage.
